Sub-committees support the work of the Association by focusing on specific areas and providing recommendations to the Committee.
The Governance Sub-Committee is responsible for reviewing and strengthening the Association’s rules, policies, and procedures to ensure accountability, transparency, and compliance.
The Advocacy Sub-Committee leads the Association’s work in identifying, researching, and progressing issues that impact NSW SES members. It is responsible for developing evidence-based briefing notes, informing the Committee on emerging priorities, and coordinating advocacy efforts. The Sub-Committee also supports members directly by reviewing and assisting with individual matters where representation or guidance is required.
The Technical Sub-Committee provides subject matter expertise to support informed decision-making across the Association. It identifies best practice, emerging technologies, and innovative approaches relevant to NSW SES capability and operations. This Sub-Committee ensures that advocacy and development initiatives are underpinned by credible technical insight and contemporary industry standards.
The Merchandise & Retail Sub-Committee oversees the design, procurement, and management of Association merchandise. It is responsible for the operation and ongoing development of the Association Shop, ensuring products reflect the identity of the State Emergency Service Association of NSW while delivering value to members and supporting Association activities.
The Honours & Awards Sub-Committee supports recognition of NSW SES members by advocating for appropriate honours and awards. It provides guidance and assistance to members in preparing nominations and promotes awareness of recognition opportunities. The Sub-Committee also coordinates the Association’s internal awards program to acknowledge outstanding contribution and service.
The Development Sub-Committee drives the growth and sustainability of the Association. It focuses on marketing, communications, fundraising, and membership growth initiatives. This Sub-Committee works to strengthen the Association’s presence, expand engagement with members, and support long-term organisational capability.
